Leann Kuebelbeck

DVM, BS, Spellers Method Provider

Dana Johnson

Leann is a Spellers Method Provider at Spellers Center Tampa. Her impressive background includes entrepreneur, business owner and she is also a Board Certified Surgeon, and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University.

Leann co-founded, then, became the sole owner of Brandon Equine Medical Center. She also served as president and board member of several prestigious veterinary organizations.

Leann currently works at Spellers Center Tampa 2-3 days a week. She works with individuals and families coaching the Spellers Method and helping unreliable speakers develop their voice using letter boards so that they may be able to leverage this skill in different settings. Leann considers herself fortunate to have enjoyed a 30 year equine veterinary career where she could hone clinical skills of diagnosing and treating medical conditions on horses where reading the horse’s body language and overall energy was critical for success.

This skill has been an important part of her intuitive work with co-regulation of the Spellers that she works with at SCT.

What do you love most about your work at Spellers Center?

“I love helping non-speakers and unreliable speakers develop their voice using a letter board. It is especially rewarding to work with the Speller’s family or chosen communication partners so that the Speller will be able to leverage this skill in many settings.”

What is something that you wish everyone understood about your job?

“All of our Spellers are incredibly intelligent. They know how to spell already, we are just helping them master the motor skill of reliably pointing to the letters that they want to point to in order to communicate.”

When you’re not working, what do you like to do and how do you unwind?

“I love to be outdoors in nature ideally doing something physical (hiking, biking, paddle boarding, skiing, pickleball etc.) with my family or friends. I am the happiest and most relaxed when I have gotten in my workout for the day and then have been able to accomplish some productive chores or projects.”

Leann is also a pickleball addict and plays 5-6 days per week!
