Jasmine Forbes
MS, OTR/L, Spellers Method Provider
Jasmine Forbes is an Occupational Therapist at Spellers Center Tampa. She earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Toronto in Canada.
In 2018 Jasmine accepted a position at a pediatric occupational therapy clinic in Southern California where she gained experience in a variety of settings including clinic, home, and schools. Jasmine moved to Florida in 2020 and began working at Invictus Academy Tampa Bay where she worked with students having apraxia, autism and with motor and sensory differences. It was here that Jasmine was first introduced to spelling for communication as a reliable method for nonspeakers and unreliable speakers.
Jasmine is now a Spellers Method Provider and is excited to work with both new and experienced spellers as well as incorporating her skills as a practitioner into her occupational therapy practice.
What do you love most about your work at Spellers Center?
“I love getting to meet new families and supporting them on their journey towards reliable communication. I also love getting to celebrate all of the tiny wins. The big wins are great, but I think there is always something to celebrate – even if it is just showing up.”
What is something that you wish everyone understood about your job?
“I wish everyone understood just how hard Spellers work when they come in. It is not easy and they put in SO much hard work to reach their goals.”
When you’re not working, what do you like to do?
“I love spending time with my family. My husband (Stephen), daughter (Eden) and pup (Bixby) enjoy going for walks and playing in the yard. I also enjoy reading and crossword puzzles (really, any type of puzzle).”
