Taryn Hood

Director of Operations

Dana Johnson

Taryn does the heavy-lifting admin work for Spellers Center Tampa, Spellers Center Atlanta and Spellers Revolution.

She has worked in admin/operations/human resources for the majority of her career. At Spellers Center Tampa, she works hard behind the scenes and to make sure the client and provider experience is smooth and efficient.

One of Taryn’s goals is to continually analyze and modify processes to ensure that Spellers Centers are serving others as best as possible.

What do you love most about your work at Spellers Center?

“I get to meet with families prior to their starting at Spellers Center Tampa/Atlanta and this is my favorite because I get to see how much hope and excitement they have when they hear about spelling for communication. I also love seeing those clients later in their journey and the progress they’ve made and how lives are changed.”

What is something that you wish everyone understood about your job?

“I wish everyone understood that I’d love for all nonspeakers and their families to hear about spelling for communication so that they can also begin their own spelling journey. I often hear from people during consults that they wish they had heard about this earlier, and I wish that for them as well. We’re doing our best to get the word out!”

When you’re not working, what do you like to do and how do you unwind?

When she’s not working, Taryn enjoys being outside, walking, hiking, preferably near the ocean. She is also creates quilts and she is an avid reader. It is rare to see her without a book nearby. Taryn loves spending time with family and friends. And lastly, she loves football – her fall season is busy with managing multiple fantasy football teams.
